The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Cleanliness is half of faith
It is very disappointing, and not to mention embarrassing, that we Muslims have a large population (27%) in Birmingham but our neighbourhoods are disastrously filthy and dirty. Where we live and stay reflects who we are as people. And that is why we say, ‘Enough is enough!’ No to fly-tipping sofas, refrigerators, mattresses etc. No to dumping takeaway leftovers, cartons and boxes etc. No to wasting food and drink and throwing them on the streets etc. The earth is a trust to us and we must take care of this trust entrusted to us by Allah.
For this very cause, Darul Ilm Birmingham has organised it’s very own group to clean its streets.
Ibn ‘Abbas said, “There are 360 joints and each of them owes sadaqa every single day. Every good word is sadaqa. A man’s helping his brother is sadaqa. A drink of water which he gives is sadaqa. Removing something harmful from the road is sadaqa.”
Do your bit by cleaning your neighbourhood whilst earning large amounts of reward by practising this beautiful Hadith. If we were all conscious of the rulings of Islam and we all worked collectively; each masjid, institute kept certain areas clean and tidy, then Birmingham would flourish.
Every first and third Friday of the month at 3 pm
